History

Few details are known about this company. Even the years it was active are unknown. Some cars were badged Wemry, and others Wemly. Nevertheless, the actual company name was Guangdong Wanli Auto (广东万里汽车).

Guangdong Wanli Auto have apparently produced various car models for a number of years although the legitimacy of such models are contestable since they were apparently first assembled from CKD kits imported in different shipments to Guangdong and thus is commonly refered as being part of a scheme called CCPDoG™.

CCCPDoG was a ‘creative’ scheme to get around China’s extremely high import tariffs for foreign-made cars in the late 1990s. Several companies would collaborate to ‘produce’ cars in China, piggybacking on an existing Chinese car maker with a valid car-making license.

With this scheme, Wanli has given life to some Toyota LiteAce, Suzuki Escudo and Mitsubishi Pajero cars in southern China. The denomination for the models was WLZ, however, not all models have known denominated model numbers so we will refer them with their common name in the Cars section.

According to some sources Guangdong Wanli Auto was absorbed by Baolong in 2000.
