History

Founded by Enzo Ferrari (1898-1988) in 1939 after his departure from Scuderia Ferrari which raced Alfa-Romeo cars. As he counldn't use the Ferrari name at first, he operated under the Auto Avio Costruzioni company name and built one car before the outbreak of World War II :

Auto Avio Costruzioni 815 (1940)

The current Ferrari name was used for this company from 1945 and road cars were produced in the Maranello facility since 1947.

(more to come)

Dino (1957-1976)

The Dino brand was created by Ferrari in an attempt to offer relatively low-cost sports cars with smaller engine than the V12s reserved for Ferrari models. While produced by Ferrari, the cars wore Dino badges.
It was incorporated into the Ferrari brand in 1976.

For the purpose of this page, the Dino models are presented in the Ferrari cars list.
